Southern California fires...
This past weekend was dark. We are, thank God, not near any of the fires in the southland. But we are downwind.
Saturday morning was unusually dark... as if a dense fog had settled in. But this fog never lifted - and the sunlight that eventually managed to filter through cast an orange glow all about. Walking outside you were immediately hit with the smell of smoke. Tiny flecks of snowy ash drifted down ever so gently; covering everything.
Then the winds came. Hot. Dry. They ripped through our neighborhood, attempting to sap the life out of the vegetation.
Tonight it's cool and the winds have stopped... pray for the firefighters.
